F/0.95: Shooting with the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm

I picked up this lens second-hand from Matt Day, a photographer in Chillicothe, Ohio, that I greatly respect and admire. It came in Thursday, now it’s Monday, and after having shot with it almost exclusively this weekend I am deep in love.

I read some complaints about the sharpness wide open, and the flaring/ghosting of the lens, but I like pretty much everything about the way it captures light and character. Hard to complain about a lens with an f/0.95 aperture that only costs $500.

Here’s some shots from the weekend, let me know what you think!

This lens has quirks, but might be the best, most full-of-character lens that I’ve ever used.
